Project Description:
Crayola’s Lights, Camera, Color (LCC) application is an online tool that enables kids to transform photographs into black and white line art that can be customized with digital assets then printed and colored. The basic application is open to anyone to try but in order to print or save requires a code, available on the packaging of select Crayola products.
Crayola hired FG to refine the application’s creative strategy, user experience, and visual design for licensed iterations of the web application. Crayola partnered with Nickelodeon and several other major children's entertainment moguls to develop ten licensed LCC products.
Team FG leveraged years of experience designing applications for children to resolve the interface design, refining the style of interface elements like buttons and in-app overlays and simplifying the steps in the user flow. The container for the LCC tool was modularized so it could easily be placed over the large-scale background images for each of the licensed instances of the application, enveloping users in the property’s world.
